Homemade Almond Milk Recipe


Ingredients:

- 1 cup raw almonds

- 4 cups filtered water (for soaking)

- 4 cups filtered water (for blending)

- Sweetener of your choice (optional, e.g., dates, maple syrup, or agave syrup)

- A pinch of salt (optional)

- A dash of vanilla extract (optional)


Instructions:


1. Soak the Almonds:

- Place the almonds in a bowl and cover them with 4 cups of filtered water.

- Allow the almonds to soak for at least 4-6 hours or overnight. This softens them and makes them easier to blend.


2. Drain and Rinse:

- After soaking, drain and rinse the almonds thoroughly.


3. Blend:

- Place the soaked and rinsed almonds in a blender.

- Add 4 cups of filtered water.

- If desired, add a sweetener like dates, maple syrup, or agave syrup, a pinch of salt, and a dash of vanilla extract for flavour.

- Blend on high for 1-2 minutes until the mixture becomes smooth and creamy.


4. Strain:

- Place a nut milk bag, cheesecloth, or fine mesh strainer over a large bowl or jug.

- Pour the almond mixture through the strainer to separate the liquid from the almond meal.


5. Squeeze and Extract:

- If using a nut milk bag or cheesecloth, squeeze and press to extract as much liquid as possible. If using a strainer, use a spoon to press out the liquid from the almond meal.


6. Store:

- Pour the fresh almond milk into a clean, airtight container or bottle.

- Store it in the refrigerator for up to 4-5 days.


Enjoy your homemade almond milk in your morning coffee, cereal, or as a refreshing beverage. Feel free to adjust the sweetness and flavour to suit your taste. You can also experiment with other plant-based milk alternatives, like soy, oat, or cashew milk, using a similar method.
